The Les Clefs d’Or Malaysia held its Bi-monthly meeting in The Westin Kuala Lumpur, but this time it was different from the usual meetings we had been having. In fact, for most of the members, this was a once in a life time event, as for this particular meeting, we had the honor of the attendance of the International Les Clefs d’Or President – Roger Bastoni himself, who happened to be on our shores for a holiday, but living true to the “Service Through Friendship” spirit, took some time off to grace our event. Thanks to Mr. Toh and his team in Westin, the meeting went smoothly with an attendance of about 35 members. The meeting began with a speech by the hosted hotel’s General Manager, Mr. Kim Powley who welcomed the members and wished them a successful meeting. The usual matters were discussed, such as the membership drive, the newly uploaded Les Clefs d’Or Malaysia website and also the future plans for the year 2009. The highlight of the meeting was of course the arrival of Mr. Bastoni, or “Roger” as he preferred to be called. Roger walked in with a great big smile, dressed smartly in a navy blue jacket with white pants and matching white shoes, welcomed warmly with a standing ovation by the crowd. He was then given a briefed presentation by the Board Members of Les Clefs d’Or Malaysia on the ASEAN Congress presentation which they had proposed to be held in Kuala Lumpur on August 2009. After the presentation, Roger had a brief “get-to-know-you” session with members present and took the opportunity to extend his inspiring note which was followed by a photography session. Thanks to Mr. Yap of Mayflower Tour and Travel, immediately after the meeting was adjourned, the delegates which included Roger himself were all transferred by coach, exclusively escorted by two police outriders to Tamarind Hill which was along Jalan Sultan Ismail for a cocktail session. In Malaysia we believe that the rain is a sign of blessing, and during Roger’s journey to the cocktail venue it rained indeed! This certainly was a blessing for us all. Our first stop was a cocktail at Tamarind Hills, which we were cheerfully greeted by Mr. Frederico and his team. Our next destination was this lovely restaurant placed in an ‘Jungle Luxe’ called IL Tempio – The Temple of Fine Italian Cuisine. Here, the group was also joined in by the Founder President – Mr. Timothy Gan and also Past President of Les Clefs d’Or Malaysia, Mr. Roslan Mat Taba All in all, it was a joyous and a historical event for Les Clefs d’Or Malaysia. Thank you once again Roger for dropping by! Viva Les Clefs d’Or
