In general, Malaysia has a tropical climate with temperatures ranging from 21 °C to 32 °C. This sunny country has many beautiful islands and beaches that one can enjoy. Langkawi Island, a duty free island is located to the north west of the country. The west coast of Peninsular Malaysia also boasts many beautiful islands such as Penang Island, Pangkor Island, Payar Island.. The west coast of Peninsular Malaysia is shielded from the strong wind of the Straits of Malacca by the island of Sumatra hence you can visit the islands anytime of the year.
The Malaysian beaches on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia has many unspoilt beautiful islands such as Tioman Island , Redang Island, Perhentian Island, Pulau Lang Tengah and Kapas Island. As this part of Malaysia faces the South China Sea, it is not advisable to visit these islands for sea activities during the Monsoon Season from November to March as the waves can be quite strong during this time.
The island of Borneo is where Sabah and Sarawak are located. Islands such as Turtle Islands, Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park , Pulau Tiga, Layang Layang Island, Labuan Island, and the world renown Sipadan Island are located here.

Langkawi Island Langkawi island is an archipelago of 104 islands lying in the north western coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The exact location of these tropical islands is at the site where the Straits of Malacca meets the waters of the Andaman Seas.The largest of these islands is called Langkawi Island and is bigger than the Penang Island.The other islands in this group are Island of Pregnant Maiden (Pulau Dayang Bunting), Lion Island (Pulau Singa Besar) and Beras Basah Island.The smallest of these islands are atolls roughly the size of an ordinary house! You only need to stay in Langkawi for a minimum of 48 hours to take back home a reasonable amount of tax free goods. |

Perhentian Island Pulau Perhentian consists of 2 main islands which are located about 25km away from the town of Kuala Besut. The smaller island is known as Perhentian Kecil and bigger one is called Perhentian Besar. If you are not familiar with Bahasa Malaysia, "Kecil" means small and "Besar" means big. Unlike the bigger and more developed islands of Pangkor or Langkawi , these 2 islands are still seeing a slower pace of development where there are no roads or airport facilities.Accessibility to the islands and getting from one part of the island to another is by ferry or boat. Electricity is generated by using the local generators located on the island itself. Due to the North-Easterly Monsoon season, most resorts are opened only from February to October. |

Redang Island Pulau Redang is one of the most beautiful island of Malaysia which is located 45km off the coast of Kuala Terengganu. Terengganu is one of the state located on the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The coast off Terengganu boast many other smaller islands such as Perhentian Island, Lang Tengah Island, Bidung Island, Kapas Island, Tenggol Island and Duyung Island.The main island has two beaufiful beaches island, one is located on the east coast and the other at the north east. Tioman Island Pulau Tioman has been voted as one of the most beautiful island in the world. The island is situated 56km off the coast of Pahang in the South China Sea. The main island span an area of 38km in length and 19km in width at its widest point. As the North Easterly wind brings torrential showers from November to February, the best time to visit this island is from March to October. Visibility of the water during this time range from 20 to 30 metres.Tioman is the largest island that formed the Tioman Marine Park. Other smaller islands which are also a snorkelling and diving sites include Tulai Island, Chebeh Island, Sepoi Island, Labas Island, Sembilang Island, Seri Buat Island, Jahat Island and Tokong Bahara Island.Being gazetted as a Marine Park in 1995, you will be able to see the array of marine life as you go snorkelling or scuba diving. |

Sipadan Island Made famous by Jacques Cousteau documentary called "Ghost of the Sea Turtle", this island has been one of the most popular diving destination for many divers. Located off the north-east coast of Sabah at the Celebes Sea, this island is formed by corals on an extinct volcanic cone that rises 600m or 2,000 feet from the seabed. It has one of the most richest marine habitats with over 3,000 species of fish in the world along with Galapagos Islands and Truk in Micronesia. This island has been voted as the best diving spot in the world by divers who came here.The uniqueness of this island is the drop-off of approximately 600m or 2,000 feet just 9m or 30 feet away from the beach. It is like a wall that drops off suddenly to a bottomless depth. As you dive, you will be able to see groups of green turtles and hawksbill turtles resting on corals in their natural habitat. |

Pangkor Island Pangkor island is located off the west coast of the state of Perak. It has everything that an ideal island has to offer. One can see the long stretches of golden beaches in many parts of the island and the popular ones are Pasir Bogak Beach, Golden Sands Beach or Pantai Puteri Dewi and Teluk Nipah. Pangkor is still unspoilt in that the pace of development is still slow compared to other islands in Malaysia. You will be able to see fishermen going out to the sea to make a living as the majority of them are fishermen. Most of them stayed in the small towns of Sungai Pinang Kecil and Sungai Pinang Besar. In fact, one can even venture into their small factories to see how they process their catch of the day as well as buying some of the processed food. |

Cherating Beach Cherating Beach is located 45km north of Kuantan and is one of the most sought after coastal beaches in Peninsular Malaysia. It used to be one of the favourite spots for backpackers before tourism industry pick up in the nearby islands of Pulau Perhentian, Pulau Lang Tengah and Pulau Redang.During the North-Easterly monsoon season from November to March, many surfers come to surf and take advantage of the high waves brought about by the north easterly wind from the South China Sea. The best time to surf is from the month of November to December where the monsoon season will be at the peak. Many tourists stay over at the hotels nearby for a couple of weeks just to catch the waves of the sea, experience the village and carefree living at the coast or simply taking a break from the routine of working life. |

Port Dickson Port Dickson which was known as Tanjung a long time ago was founded by John Frederick in the year 1889. The abundance of tin ore in the nearby town of Lukut at that time enabled the development of this town into a trading centre and a beach resort. Located approximately 60km south of Kuala Lumpur, this town resort is accessible by using the North South and Seremban-PD highways. It will take approximately 75 minutes to reach this townPort Dickson is located near the Straits of Malacca with a coastline stretching up to 18km. The popular beaches along this coastline are Teluk Kemang and Blue Lagoon which are both located south of PD town. There are public parks by the beaches that you use to have your family picnics or recreational activities. Many of the hotels here have private beaches that you can use if you are a guest of the hotel. |

Teluk Chempedak Beach Teluk Chempedak beach is approximately 5km away from the town of Kuantan. If you are coming from the town centre, go towards the east direction to Jalan Teluk Sisik. Go all the way to the end and you will reach Jalan Teluk Chempedak. You will reach a dead end where a MacDonald Restaurant and Hyatt Regency Hotel are located. Park your car and walk towards the beach. This is one of the main beach that locals go to during the weekends and after office hours to unwind and for a time of leisure with family members. This beach is an enclosed bay and is a good place for water sports activities such as swimming, jet-skiing, surfing or sun-bathe. Kite flying during the windy days is a definite thing to do for children of all ages. During the monsoon season from November to March, do be careful with the sea as the waves can be quite rough. |
