Attractions
As the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur has developed into a self contained city where one gets to enjoy the modern amenities and a better quality of life. In the midst of the business of city life, there are many tourist attractions and events that help one to unwind after a long days work. Many prefer to come during the weekends with their families just to enjoy the many attractions that are available in the city.
Some of the attractions are the Aquaria KLCC, where one gets to enjoy the aquatic life without having to leave the city. It is located at the basement of Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. There is also Petrosains, a discovery centre in Kuala Lumpur City Centre. National Planetarium with its wide screen cinema and other exhibits helps on to discover the field of astronomy.

Aquaria KLCC The Aquaria KLCC is an underwater park located beneath Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and adjacent to Kuala Lumpur City Centre.Located within 5 minutes walking distance from Suria KLCC, featuring 60,000 sq ft (6,000 m²) in two levels with a 90-metre long underwater tunnel, Aquaria KLCC houses over 250 different species and over 20,000 land and aquatic animals fom Malaysia and around the world. National Science Centre Located in a harmonious and attractive environment, Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, this new national landmark has a unique architecture that resembles a truncated cone capped by a geodesic dome. The National Science Centre, an institution of informal learning, was entrusted with the mandate to promote awareness, appreciation, interest and understanding of Science and Technology. The Centre houses many different exhibits designed to stimulate, excite and encourage visitors to take an active interest in Science and Technology. Natioanl Art Gallery An agency under the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, the National Art Gallery is one of the most established art museums in South East Asia. Putrajaya City Putrajaya, an "Intelligent Garden City" and the federal administrative capital of Malaysia is covering an area of 4,931 hectares of land. Central Market Central Market is located in Kuala Lumpur and is one of the heritage building that has been adapted for a different use. It was built in late 1920s and used to be the city's wholesale and retail wet market for fresh produce. As Kuala Lumpur developed into a vibrant city, the need to renovate and refurbish its image became a pressing need. Hence, in the early 1980s, it was renovated and reopened for use in year 1986. Instead of being used as a wet market, it has since then became a leading arts and crafts centre in the city. |

Petronas Twin Tower Petronas Twin Tower is located in Kuala Lumpur and were the world's tallest buildings before being surpassed by Taipei 101. However the towers are still the tallest twin buildings in the world. They were the world's tallest buildings from 1998 to 2004 if measured from the level of the main entrance to the structural top. Below the building is KLCC park with jogging and walking paths, a fountain with incorporated light slow, wading pools and a children's playground. The towers feature a skybridge between the two towers on 41st and 42nd floors, which is the highest 2-story bridge in the world. |

Kuala Lumpur Tower (KL Tower) Kuala Lumpur Tower is a tall tower located in Kuala Lumpur and was built in 1995. It is used as communication purposes and features an antenna that reaches 421 m (1,381 ft), which currently makes it the fifth tallest tower in the world. The rest of tower below has a stairwell and an elevator to reach the upper area, which also contains a revolving restaurant, providing diners a beautiful view of the city. |

Independent Square (Sultan Abdul Samad Building) The Sultan Abdul Samad Building is located in front of the Dataran Merdeka - literally the Independent Square - and the Royal Selangor Club, by Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The structure takes its name from Sultan Abdul Samad, the reigning sultan of Selangor at the time when construction began. Topped by a shiny copper dome and a 40m high clock tower, it is a major landmark in the city. It serves as the backdrop for important events such as the National Day Parade on August 31 and the ushering in of the New Year. |

Lake Garden Taman Tasik Perdana, also known as the Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens, is the oldest park in Kuala Lumpur. Created from former mining land, the main attraction at Taman Tasik Perdana is the artificial lake surrounded by 92 hectares of lush, undulating greenery. It is a favourite place for the locals of Kuala Lumpur to seek a breath of fresh air. The lawns are meticuously kept , strolling along the carefully planned paths or rowing on the lake. The park also has jogging tracks and exercise stations, as well as children's playground. |

Bird Park The KL Bird Park was set up in 1991 and was officially opened by The DYMM Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tuanku Bainun. Located in the serene and scenic Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens, it is only 10 minutes drive away from the city centre of Kuala Lumpur. It is the home to more than 2,000 birds of approximately 200 species of local and foreign birds. Bird-watching is a common activity here where the flora and fauna is rich. The Kuala Lumpur Bird Park has earned the reputation among those who are keen on the study of birds in their natural habitat. Some of them include research scientists who monitor bird nests for the study of behavioral patterns. |

Orchid Garden (Taman Orkid) The Orchid Garden is opposite the Bird Park. It's a part of what is called the Lake Gardens. The Taman Orkid is situated on a scenic hilltop within The Lake Gardens. Around and on this hilltop all the orchids are growing. Over 800 varieties of orchids, including the exotic species, thrive abundantly on this 1 hectare floral paradise. Cut flowers and plants are sold on weekends. You can purchase cut flowers and plants to beautify your home’s interior. |

Deer Park Located in the undulating slopes and sprawling valley of the Lake Gardens. The authorities have dedicated a spot known as the Kuala Lumpur Deer Park to these gentle, intelligent creatures. The Deer Park is a beautiful spot where the landscaping has been well thought out and lush trees and shrubs planted to ensure that the habitat is cooling and peaceful. There are also ponds around the park. Perhaps Malaysia most famous deer, the rainforest mousedeer or kancil, can be seen here. The mousedeer is the world's smallest hoofed animal and a popular figure in local folklore due to its legendary wit. |

National Palace (Istana Negara) The National Palace Kuala Lumpur or Istana Negara is the official residence of His Majesty, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the King of Malaysia. It stands on a 28 acre site, located at a commanding position on the slope of a hill of Bukit Petaling overlooking the Klang River. The National Palace was built in 1928 and was originally the residence of a millionaire, Chan Wing who was once a Chinese immigrant who made his money in tin mines and other businesses. Chan Wing built the huge house to accommodate his large family, including his 26 wives, whom he brought to Kuala Lumpur from Hong Kong in the 1920s. |

National Theatre (Istana Budaya) The main building takes the form of the 'sirih junjung' (a traditional arrangement of betel leaves used in Malay weddings and welcoming ceremonies), and is divided by function, based on a traditional Malay house. The interior of the Istana Budaya is something you won't want to miss as it is built from Langkawi marble and decorated with tropical wooden doors which feature hand-carved flower and leaf motifs. In short, this place is a work of art in and of itself. |

National Museum The museum houses various exhibits depicting the historical background of the country. The exhibits are on a rotation basis, so it is best to check out the museum on their exhibits at the time. Other than that, one can find, in the museum grounds various national treasures including the istana (palace) of Sultan Zainal Abidin III, Sultan of Terengganu in 1884. The palace, the Istana Satu, is built entirely of hardwood, and built in the museum compounds in 1974. Other attractions include the bust of Sir Francis Light, whom founded Penang, as well as the first cable car from Bukit Bendera, Penang. |
